Frequently asked questions
Do I need my own Copart or IAA account?
No. We bid through our own accounts. You never deal with the auction house, and you never need a US address or a dealer licence.
What happens if the bidding goes above my maximum?
We stop. You are never charged for a vehicle we did not win, and there is no fee for an unsuccessful bid. We will help you find the next one.
How long does it take to arrive?
Typically six to ten weeks from purchase to arrival, depending on the port and the vessel schedule. Your account shows an estimated arrival date as soon as a vessel is booked, and updates it if the line changes.
Can I pay in naira?
Yes. Payment requests are raised in naira at the rate in force that day, and you pay by card or bank transfer. The rate used is shown on every receipt.
What does "salvage title" actually mean?
The vehicle was declared a total loss by an insurer — usually after an accident, flood or theft recovery. Many are excellent value once repaired. The damage description and the photographs on every lot tell you exactly what you are buying.
When do I pay?
Only after we have won a vehicle for you. Registering is free, saving vehicles is free, and seeing the full landed cost is free.
