Terms of service

1. Who we are and what we do
Oyin of North America ("Oyin", "we") locates vehicles at auctions in the United States and Canada, bids on and purchases them on behalf of customers, and arranges their transport and shipment to Nigeria. We act as your purchasing and logistics agent. We are not the seller of the vehicle; the auction house is.

2. Your account
You must be 18 or older and give accurate contact details. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us immediately if you believe it has been accessed without your permission.

3. Bid requests
When you submit a bid request you authorise Oyin to bid at the auction on your behalf up to, and not above, the maximum you state. A bid request is a binding instruction. If we win the vehicle at or below your maximum, you are obliged to complete the purchase. If we do not win, nothing is charged. We may decline a request at our discretion before bidding, and will tell you if we do.

4. Buy It Now requests
A Buy It Now request authorises Oyin to purchase the vehicle at the listed price. Buy It Now vehicles may be sold to another buyer before we can act; if so, your request is closed and nothing is charged. If the price changes before we act, we will confirm the new price with you before proceeding.

5. Estimates
The landed-cost figure shown on each vehicle is an estimate built from our current rate tables. It is not a quotation. Auction fees, transport, freight, customs duty and exchange rates are confirmed when we process your purchase and may differ from the estimate. Where a figure is a fallback rather than a specific rate, the estimate says so.

6. Payment
After a successful purchase we raise payment requests in Nigerian naira at the exchange rate in force on the day the request is raised. Payment is due by the date stated. We do not release a vehicle for collection or shipping until the relevant payment has cleared. Late payment may incur storage charges from the auction yard or port, which are passed on at cost.

7. The vehicle
Vehicles sold at salvage auctions are sold as-is, based on the auction house's description and photographs. We do not inspect vehicles before purchase unless you ask and pay for an inspection. We are not responsible for differences between the auction listing and the vehicle's actual condition. Title status, damage and mileage are as reported by the auction house.

8. Shipping
We arrange inland transport and ocean freight through third-party carriers. Estimated arrival dates are estimates. Delays at ports, in customs, or on the water are common and outside our control. Marine cargo insurance is [included / available on request — DELETE ONE]. Loss or damage in transit is subject to the carrier's terms and any insurance in place.

9. Customs and clearing
Nigerian import duties, levies and clearing charges are assessed by the relevant authorities and clearing agents. Our estimate reflects the schedule as we understand it at the time; the actual assessment may differ and is payable in full.

10. Cancellation
You may withdraw a bid request at any time before we have submitted it to the auction. Once a vehicle has been purchased on your behalf, the purchase cannot be cancelled and the full amount remains payable. If you fail to complete payment, we may resell the vehicle and you remain liable for any shortfall and costs.

11. Auction data
Vehicle listings on this site are sourced from a third-party data provider and are provided for information. See our Auction Data Disclaimer. Bid figures shown are as of the time stated and are not a live feed.

12. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability to you in respect of any purchase is limited to the service fee we charged for that purchase. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for the acts or omissions of the auction house, carriers, port operators, or customs authorities.

13. Changes
We may update these terms. The version in force is the one published on this page on the date you submit a request.

14. Governing law
